Weekly Reading: 10/07/2019

As you move forward in pursuit of your goals, it isn’t unusual to experience imposter system. Our experience grows gradually, and it can sometimes be difficult to see the progress we’ve made along the way. When you look up from the grindstone and think, “How did I get here,” remember that every advance is comprised of a thousand tiny decisions made consistently and diligently.

This week’s homework:

  • Get back to basics. If you project has grown beyond what you feel you can handle, review the steps you took to get where you are. As we progress along our path, it’s tempting to let the details slide in favor of “more important” tasks. Remember that every journey consists of tiny steps and the easiest way to go astray is to stop paying attention to the details.

By getting back to the basics, you may discover a new enthusiasm. By lowering the stakes, even for a little while, you take pressure off yourself. This gives you a chance to remember why you started in the first place, and perhaps even what you love about the goal that might have been forgotten. From this place of simplicity springs creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to discover others who share your passion.
