“Is your life presenting you with opportunities that seem to yield nothing? Have your ideas dried up? Does it feel like you’re on an endless journey through a dry, hot, lifeless desert? This card reminds you that there are times when you’re meant to become resilient as you journey through harsher circumstances. You’re being required to conserve your energy — until, after consistent effort, you reach the oasis you’re searching for.”
For many reasons this month has been an exercise in frustration, struggling just to find the will to work on continuing to breathe life into this dream child I call Two Ladies Tarot. Between health, sleep issues, and battling with depression, finding the will to actually do the work has often times required more passion and effort than I have been able to summon.
The cherry on the sundae of all of this has been the deep abiding fear in my gut that, even should I find it in me to push myself past the finish line, nothing would be waiting on the other side. When you’re sick, depressed and sleep-deprived, it is hard enough to do what needs to be done when you know that something good is waiting for you on the other side. With a new business, you don’t have that luxury. There is a fear that, no matter what you do, nothing will come of it and that ,no matter how much you work and sacrifice, your dreams just won’t come true.
I made the mistake of waiting until the end of this month to read this card. Had I done so, I might have been reminded that the beginning stages of a business is very much like planting seeds. Just because you can’t see the seeds beneath the earth starting to sprout and push towards the sun doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
Nobody expects to plant a seed one day and harvest it the next, so why do we do this to ourselves when it comes to new ventures of the heart? Why do we demand results show themselves immediately lest we throw up our hands and give up?
Sometimes it’s hard to trust in a benevolent universe. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that if you do the work, the dream will manifest. Nobody knows this better than me.
But sometimes we have to let go of fear and doubt and know that the seeds we have planted are thriving beneath the soil just out of sight and that, if we keep believing, just keep moving forward, the hard work of today will be a full harvest come the fall.
