Back at the beginning of January, Kat wrote a post about New Year’s Resolutions with a suggestion to do a reading for the year, then follow up each month to see how it applied. Well, since we are definitely in the “do, not say” camp, we decided to do our own reading for Two Ladies Tarot and share the results with you.
So at the beginning of January, Kat and I each pulled six cards, alternating months, to help track our business for the year. The plan is that each of us would do a monthly review of the card we pulled and see how it affected us during the month.
The card I pulled for January was the Six of Pentacles, or Generosity. And looking back over the last month, I do see that generosity was pretty much a cornerstone of our business, not only from us to others, but from others to us.
We have dedicated 2019 to really moving our business to the next level. To do this, we both needed a lot more education in business, marketing, and sales. As daunting as this task seemed, the universe reached out and provided exactly the resource we needed, completely free of charge, in Amy Porterfield’s Marketing Made Easy Podcast. Amy’s courses cost in the thousands of dollars, normally, but her website and podcast offer so much value that even on a limited budget you can profoundly change your understanding of how to grow your businesses. Her guests range from such online luminaries as Seth Godin to mega-coach Brooke Castillo, and every episode includes free downloadable resources.
The decision to accept this resource into our lives has had a cascading effect. The mere act of listening together as a couple and as business partners has opened our conversations to deeper and more profound levels. As we learn about the business aspect of our business, we also become more focused on the metaphysical aspects–who we are, how we read, and what we wish to give to the world through our service as readers and advisers.
January has also shown an increase in reader likes, follows, and comments. As a blogger, I can’t even begin to express how much I appreciate this interaction. Writing blog posts every week can be difficult, especially when it feels like no one is reading. This month, so many of you have taken the time to like or comment on these posts, and it is invigorating. In a service based business, feedback is golden. And knowing that the posts we’re offering touch, educate, or provide value in some ways for our readers is priceless.
I can’t express enough how grateful we are to those of you who have taken the time to like, share, or comment on our posts. We hope that you will continue to follow this blog in 2019.
Random Acts of Awesome
When you are a reader by trade, one of the neatest benchmarks is what I like to call “Random Acts of Awesome,” little moments in where the universe seems to be speaking directly to you, saying, “Hey, kid! You’re on the right track.”
Kat and I have these moments all the time, but this month was quite the kick! Kat and I sat down to do Amy Porterfield’s 2019 Annual Planning Roadmap for Two Ladies Tarot. In the spirit of “like attracts like,” we spent the afternoon at one of the nicest places in the city, Scottsdale’s Princess Resort. What better place to attract prosperity and success than amongst the 1%, right? Well, once we were done, we were hanging in the bar when a big-haired blonde walks in to greet friends and head off to dinner. Who is it but Theresa Caputo, The Long Island Medium??? To be honest, my fangirl youth is far behind me, and I’m really content to just let sleeping celebrities lie. But the cosmic coincidence of us working on our business and running into a woman who made a fortune talking to dead people on television was too much to resist.
It’s never a given that a celebrity is going to react well when you reach out to them in public, but Ms. Caputo was quite gracious to us. The entire exchange took about five seconds, but it was still kind of a groovy validation from the universe that we are on the right track.
When you really look deeply into it, generosity can take multiple forms. It can be as simple as a friendly hello to a stranger, liking a post, or as intricate as providing valuable information free of charge to help others improve their lives. That’s what we are trying to do here with this blog–help our readers get a better perspective on things, even if we never have the opportunity to read for them in person or remotely.
The natural, healthy response to generosity is gratitude. Kat and I are so grateful to all of you who faithfully read our posts, who contact us for private readings, and who use your wisdom and generosity to improve the world. We hope you will continue with us on this journey through 2019 and beyond.
