New Year’s Resolutions – How the Cards Can Help

2019! At the start of any January, I look forward into the promise of a new world and a new me. The year holds so much promise, with a new congress stepping into the fray and Two Ladies Tarot just taking its first tentative steps into reality. There is much to do, and the excitement that comes with new birth fills the air. As always, at this time of year I turn my attention to the cards and the ways in which they can help me set my intention for an amazing year ahead.

If you’re anything like me, this is the time of year for setting resolutions, those yearly promises to ourselves to be better in the new year than we were at the end of the year just passed. As we look towards setting these yearly goal setting sessions, why not look at the ways in which the Tarot/Oracle can pave the way for easier success?

You can use the cards to help you:

  • settle on your chosen resolutions
  • show you your best first steps forward
  • figure out where the obstacles are so that we can more easily bust through them, clearing the way for easy success

Should you find yourself daunted by the sheer number of things you think you need to work on, it can be difficult to settle on just one or two. Or maybe you’re one of the lucky ones, lik us, who are so practically perfect in every way that you struggle to find something to work on! (Here’s a hint, unless you really are Mary Poppins, you have work to do.) Whatever the case, pull a card or two to help you select issues to work on which will  best serve you in the coming year.

Whether it’s a jump start towards your ongoing success, or a way breeze through upcoming obstacles, the vision of the cards is far wider than our own! Seeing as how they are the voice of the divine (in whatever way you interpret it), the cards can definitely give you a wider vantage point in your goal-setting process.

If you already know what you want to work on, pull a few cards to help you establish the best possible way to start off the journey. The cards can help you pinpoint your first moves with laser like focus, allowing you to skip the uncertainty and flailing that can come at the start of any journey. The cards can also pinpoint hidden obstacles, things that will block any progress you make until you can pass through them, no matter how hard you work. The cards can help pave the way for easier success as you go.

All of that assumes of course that you are doing readings for yourself. Should you decide to see a professional, be sure to frame your questions in such a way that you do not give your power away. For example, don’t ask them what specific goals to work towards. Rather, ask which areas are best worth your focus and attention. If you have your heart set on X, why ask for the readers’s permission? Ask for the best way to get a head start or what obstacles stand in your way.

BONUS ACTIVITY: Lay out a spread of 12 cards, one for each month of 2019. In a journal, write down which card turned up for each month and keep track as the year goes by to see which of your predictions come to pass and which do not. For extra credit, look over those predictions which did not “hit.” Can you see any patterns that changed between then and now? What choices did you make which affected the tapestry in your life? It’s a fun project, as long as you remember that nothing is set in stone. The further in advance you try to predict, the more likely something is to shift and change the outcome!

So, with cards in hand and this new knowledge at your fingertips, what will you do in the coming year? What plans fill your mind? What dreams set your eyes sparkling? When we roll into 2020, what new and ponderous world will you live in? Remember, tomorrow starts today! Knowledge is the key, and your future is as bright and full of promise as you make it.

I’d love to hear your plans and dreams for 2019. Please share in the comments. If you liked this post and would like to follow us on social media, visit our Facebook page. And please don’t forget to like and share this post!

Much love,
